Crash in Sparks claims life of Westminster man.


On August 7, 2016 at approximately 1724 hours, the Maryland State Police Golden Ring Barrack received a 911 call in regards to a single vehicle collision on northbound Interstate 83 north of Shawan Road.

Baltimore County fire and emergency medical personnel, as well as troopers from the Golden Ring Barrack responded to the scene to investigate.

Trooper’s preliminary investigation revealed the operator of a 2007 Sterling Truck SC street sweeper was traveling northbound when it traveled off the right side of the road and overturned. The cause of the collision is still being investigated.

The operator of the Sterling Truck, Paul Phillip Pollutra 61 year old of Westminster, MD, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Pollutra’s next of kin was notified of his death.

All lanes of northbound Interstate 83 were closed due to the collision investigation. At approximately 1900 hours, one lane was opened on northbound Interstate 83.

The collision is still under investigation and any witnesses are asked to contact the investigating Trooper.
